“Tell me about it.”
“Ya think she'll forgive me.”
“I honestly don't know, but if there’s one thing I know about my daughter, she can hold a fuckin’ grudge.”
“Fuck,” I say, and he laughs more slappin’ me on the back.
“Exactly, she ain't gonna give in easily,” he stands up and pats me on the back again.
“Night Brother”
“Night”
*
The smell of bacon wakes me the next mornin’; I have a quick shower ready to face Widow. When I come back out, Summer is sittin’ on my bed “Summer get out.”
“I... I. Just wanted to say good morning” I look at her.
“And how were you gonna do that,” she holds up a condom, and I take it from her
“I thought I could give you a nice wake-up, I mean after last night.”
“Summer look I don't want to be a fuckin’ cunt, but you’re a whore, that's why you're here at the clubhouse” she frowns at me.
“But you kissed me in front of everyone, and everyone knows you never kiss” I wipe my hands over my face and take a deep breath.
“It didn't mean anything ok; it was just a kiss.”
“Oh!” she says, and now I feel like a prick.
“Well then I better go,” she reaches for the condom, but I grab it first, and she looks at me.
“I'll keep it, I might use it later” (just not on her) she smiles.
“Oh ok,” she says with a little more enthusiasm. I watch as she closes the door (fuck I need a new lock) I dress fast the smell of bacon makin’ me hungry. As I walk into the main hall all the chairs and tables are back, I grab a plate and load it up with eggs bacon sausages hash browns toast and grab a large coffee. I look around and see Widow sittin’ next to Magic (she's always fuckin’ with him) I walk straight to their table, and they both look up.
“Mornin’,” I say, and she frowns at me, Magic just gives me a look.
“Mornin’” Magic says as I sit in the chair opposite her.
“Sleep well,” I ask her.
“What the fuck are you doing?” she asks and I look down at my plate then back at her.
“Eatin’ breakfast.”
“Go and eat somewhere else,” she tells me.
“Why? I like this seat!”
“You like that seat” I nod.
“Yep, it has the perfect view of everyone; it's close to more food if I want it and the coffee and there's a nice breeze blowing through” Magic smiles.
“Fine,” she says rollin’ her eyes.
Layin’ in bed last night I was thinkin’ about how I fucked up, which I can still kick myself for. I know she has a thing for me, the way I catch her sometimes lookin’ at me. I know it, I'm gonna get her to forgive me one way or another, I fuckin’ need her to “Hey fucker you comin’ to the range” Cookie asks me.
“What?”
“The gun range, you comin’” I see her starin’ at us.
“You wanna go to the gun range,” I ask her, and I see a spark of excitement, but she shakes her head.
“Nah gotta pack up my shit for the ride home” I grind my jaw (I hadn't even thought of her goin’ back to fuckin’ Oregon, even thinkin’ about her leavin’ fucks me off)
“Oh, come on you'll love it, we can even make a bet.”
“A bet!” Cuff says walkin’ past “what sort of bet?” he asks lookin’ at all four of us
“Brother, do you just walk around and wait for someone to make a wager,” I ask him as he sits down.
“No, I'm just always in the right place at the right time.”
“Anyway!” he says again “what bet?”
“Pass, you already welshed on the last bet, so no thanks,” she says
“What bet?” Cuff asks again, and I look at him to shut the fuck up
“Come on Widow what have you got to lose.”
“Nope, I ‘m good,” she says, lookin’ bored.
“Scared you’ll lose,” I taunt her, and she looks at me givin’ me the stink eye.
“No,” she says (think fuckhead think) just then I see her brother.
“Justin” I call out, and he comes over.
“Yeah man.”
“Where all headin’ to the gun range wanna tag along” he looks surprised but nods.
“Shit yeah, sounds good you comin’ sis,” he asks her, she shakes her head no.
“What afraid the guys will out shoot you,” he goads her.
“Mankini,” she says, and he frowns at her, and they both face off at each other.
“Not even funny,” he says as she smiles gettin' up and I panic she gonna leave.
“Where are you going?” I ask her
“Hello,” she says, holding' up her coffee cup.
“Oh,” I watch her walk over to coffee pots.
“You think you can beat her,” Cookie asks me.
“Fuck no,” I tell him, and he frowns at me.
“Then why ask her to the gun range” I look at him.
“You’re a dickhead,” Magic says, and I laugh Cookie lookin’ confused.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Widow Maker
I walk over to get another coffee and turn to watch Scythe, god he's so cute (no! no! no! he's a prick and were never going there) I berate myself. “You say something, honey,” mom asks, walking up to me, and I shake my head.
“No! How you feeling this morning?” I ask her.
“Better than some”
“Oh yeah!”
“Yeah, Niya's in the kitchen not looking too well” I laugh.
“Have you seen your father,” she asks me.
“Yeah, he's over there” I motion to dad sitting with Hammer and a couple of other guys.
“Oh, great have you got everything ready to go home” my heart skips a beat (home) I turn back to look at Scythe over my cup “You like him,” she says, and I look at her.
“He's a prick,” I say, and she laughs.
“Yeah, I thought that the first time I met your dad” I frown at her.
“But you love dad.”
“Now,” she says, “but when I first met him, he was an arrogant asshole who thought he could bat those gorgeous blue eyes and I'd drop my panties right then.”
“Ok, I've never heard this before, I thought dad was romantic and took you on a romantic ride, and you had a starry night picnic.”
“Oh, we did after your dad wore me down by stalking me.”
“Dad stalked you.”
“God, yes! He was relentless, came to my work every day to buy something just so I'd serve him, If I went anywhere, he would just show up. I knew he was following me, of course, who could miss him, he's a giant for Christ sake, even started showing up at Church on Sunday. Pastor Richard thought he was lost at. First, I mean what sort of nut goes to a gospel Church. He looked so out of place this huge white biker in a Church full of black folk.
“Dad did that” she nods, smiling at the memory.
“Even came to your grandmother’s house almost gave her a heart attack.”
“I told him I wasn't interested, but he kept showing up.”
“Ok! Then what?”
“Then after about two weeks of him coming by the house, mama sat him down on the front porch and asked him straight out what he wanted”
“And?”
“He said he wanted to court me.”
“Dad said he wanted to court you, those words exactly,” she nods again, and I laugh so hard people turn and look at us.
“I thought it was very romantic.”
“And you gave in.”
“And I gave in,” she says smiling.
“Man, this is going in the black mail bag.”
“Ava Moon, Lancaster don't you dare.”
“MOM! ixnay on the oonmay” I say, trying to cover her mouth.
“Oh, shut up! I love your name,” she says, pushing my hands away.
“Argh!” I walk back to the table sitting back down
with Magic and Justin, I watch as mom goes over and sits on dad’s lap. I smile thinking of my dad being such a pussy.
“What are you smilin’ at?” Justin asks
“So, you going to the gun range little Fly,” I ask him, ignoring Scythe and pissing him off at the same time.
“Will you quit fuckin’ callin’ me that”
“No,” I say, pulling him in for a headlock and give him a noogie, and he pushes me away.
“Fuckin’ quit it” I turn seeing Scythe's beautiful eyes watching us than I remember I hate him and I frown (asshole gorgeous, gorgeous asshole)
“Why do you call him Fly,” Scythe asks me, and I turn to my brother, but he's shaking his head
“Good question Scythe,” I say smiling.
“Don't you fuckin’ dare Ava, Mo.....” I put my hand over his mouth so fast he keeps trying to talk through my hands
“You say anymore Fly and your whole Probation period will be in a Mankini” he pries my hand off, and we stare each other down again.
“Bitch!”
“Little Fly!”
“So, we goin’ to the range people or what?” Cookie asks, and we all look at him
“I'm in,” Justin says, and I look at him.
“Ask dad first.”
“Fuck off! I don't have to ask for permission.”
“Man, I'm ordering that Mankini the second we get home,” I say hearing someone growl I look up knowing it was Scythe because everyone is looking at him but nobody says anything.
“Who the fuck?” Justin says, and I turn to look at what he's looking at “who is that?” he asks as the guys all turn
“Zoey” Cookie says
“She is fuckin’ gorgeous.”
“Why don't you go and say hi,” I tell him, he wipes his hands down his clothes and I smile
“Do I smell ok” I lean over and do a smell check.
“All good little brother, go get her,” he stands up, and as he walks off, and I see Scythe Cookie, and Cuff looking around.
“Problem,” I ask them.
“Just checking,” Cuff says
“For what?”
“Colt,” all three of them say, and I find myself looking around for him, I have no idea why so I ask.
“Why?”
“He's just protective of his sister in law.”
“Ok” and last night’s conversation with Zoey comes to mind, this is probably why she hasn’t said anything about her crush (protective brother in law). I watch as Justin approaches Zoey, I mistook her for Niya the first time I met her. They're identical in everything except their hair, Niya has gorgeous long hair, and Zoey has a bob cut. Apparently, Zoey was sick of everyone confusing her with her sister cutting it all off. As Justin approaches her, I see her smile, and they shake hands.
“Aww cute,” I say
“What did you just say?” Magic says, and I look at him
“What?”
“Did you just say aww cute” I shake my head.
“Fuck did I say that out loud,” he nods his head, I smile.
*
I watch as they talk and I feel like I'm being watched, I turn my head, seeing Scythe watching me, and I frown at him. “What the” I hear and I look behind Scythe to see Niya and Colt, Colt goes to walk towards Zoey and Justin but Niya pulls him back, shaking her head saying something to him, he pulls her in for a hug.
“Right I'm only sayin’ this one more time who's comin’ to the range,” Cookie says
“I'm in,” Magic says
“Me too,” I say giving in, and Scythe smiles at me.
“I’m in,” he says, and I stand up.
“You getting your brother,” he asks me.
“Yeah,” I don't want to be a total cock-block, so I pull out my phone messaging Justin that were leaving.
Chapter Twenty-Four
Scythe
I know it was shitty to use her brother like that, but I’d watched them together and new that they were both competitive. And the only way I would get her to agree to do anythin’ with me or near me, was if someone she trusted was with us. As we all pulled out of the clubhouse, I road behind her, Justin on the back of her bike. It was great bein' able to ride; havin’ missed it for so many years.
As we pull into the range we all back our bikes into a space, Justin has a goofy look on his face, “You guys come here a lot” Widow asks frowin.’ as she looks up at the building.
“Yeah! Why?”
“Nothing!” she says as Cuff looks at her.
“What's wrong with it?” he asks her.
“Don't you have your own range where you all go?” she asks.
“Thought you'd feel better here,” he says, and she rolls her eyes.
“Why cause I'm a woman” we all look at each other, and she groans.
“I can out shoot any of you fuckers any day of the week” I smile (fuckin’ love her moxie)
“Oh yeah! Wanna see who’s better?” I say
“Any day of the week Scythe,” she says as I start my bike up, everyone gets back on theirs, and we head back down the road to a plot of land the club have been using for a couple of years to shoot.
As we all make our way to the range I look behind me seein' her starin’ at me, she shakes her head and I know I just caught her starin’ at my ass makin’ me smile (she's gonna be suckin’ my dick by the end of the day). As we park up, I watch Justin jump off her bike, as she parks next to Magic (fuckers always next to her)
“Cuff set 'em up,” I tell him.
“So! What's the bet?” I ask her.
“Let’s make it easy, twelve rounds best shot,” she says
“Best shot” I repeat, and she nods.
“Yep, let’s keep it simple.”
“So, who's up first,” Cuff asks, and I look at Widow as she comes walkin’ up.
“Ladies first,” I tell her, and she smiles shakin' her head.
“No, no please your home turf, so please you go first,” she says smilin’.
I check my gun puttin' one in the chamber lookin' back at her, the range is simple a few bottles, cans, and bowlin’ pins hung here and there. But today Cuff has set up twenty-two bottles and two targets, eleven on the left and eleven on the right and at the far end of the range one target each for the best shot. I take my stance and fire to my right one after the other eleven down and one to the target. The boys all cheer as I turn to see Widow impressed “Nice” is all she says as she looks at her brother “Time” she asks, and I notice a stop-watch in his hand.
“Six-Two-One,” he says, and she looks at me again.
“Not bad.”
“Didn't know we were timin’ it,” she shrugs.
“Habit,” she says as she walks up pulling her gun out from under her Cut, and I smile, not even realizing she was carryin’.
“What?” she asks, but I just shake my head as we pass each other her scent hits me vanilla and fruit (fuck she smells good, I bet she tastes just as good). She takes her position, and I hear the sound of the gun bein’ loaded.
“Go, sis,” Justin says
The poppin’ noise in quick succession echo’s through the trees, her stance loose as she squeezes the trigger. The shootin’ stops as she turns back, placin’ her weapon back under her Cut smilin' at us
“Time,” she asks, and I look at Justin who's smilin’.
“Four-Three-Four,” he says, and I look down at the time.
“Fuck off! No way!” I say lookin’ at the stopwatch, Cuff comes walkin’ up with the two targets in hand.
“So!” I ask him, and he shakes his head.
“Widow got the bullseye” I look at it (fuckin’ no way)
“Mine,” I ask him
“Just off of the bullseye.”
“So, I think that means I win,” she says, lookin’ at all of us.
“Let's try again,” I say annoyed that she won against me again.
